New Orleans Pelicans Assign Cheick Diallo to Swarm

January 30, 2017 – The New Orleans Pelicans have assigned forward Cheick Diallo to the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA Development League pursuant to the flexible assignment rule.

Diallo (6-9, 220, Kansas) was selected 33rd overall in the 2016 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers before being acquired by New Orleans. He has appeared in nine games for the Pelicans so far this season, averaging 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 10.4 minutes of play per game. The rookie notched an individual high of 19 points and 10 rebounds in the Pelicans matchup with the Clippers on December 10.

The assignment is the 285th of the 2016-17 campaign and Diallo is one of a record 79 NBA players to have been assigned to the NBA D-League this season. The Swarm face the Long Island Nets tonight at 7 p.m. at the Barclays Center before returning home to Greensboro.
