Greensboro Swarm acquire Cat Barber in trade with Delaware 87ers

February 3, 2017 – The Greensboro Swarm announced today that they have agreed in principle to a trade with the Delaware 87ers to obtain guard Cat Barber and the returning player rights of Sam Thompson. In exchange, the 87ers will acquire Swarm guard Aaron Harrison. The trade is subject to the successful completion of physicals.

Barber (6-1, 175, North Carolina State) has played in 21 games (all starts) for the Delaware 87ers. In 31.0 minutes of play per game, he has averaged 14.2 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds. Prior to the start of the 2016-17 season, he played for the New Orleans Pelicans in the Utah Summer League. During his junior season at NC State, he started every game, averaging 23.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists and was voted ACC Player of the Week three times.

Thompson (6-7, 200, Ohio State) currently plays for the Vasas Akademia of the Nemzeti Bajnoksag I/A in Hungary. Prior to going overseas, the forward played in 27 games for the 87ers during the 2015-16 NBA D-League season and averaged 9.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Harrison (6-6, 215, Kentucky) appeared in 14 games for the Swarm this season as an assignment player from the Charlotte Hornets before being acquired by the Swarm. This season, he has played in 20 games (14 starts) and averaged 17.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 33.2 minutes of play per game. Harrison was originally signed by the Hornets on July 14, 2015. He appeared in 26 games over two seasons with Charlotte, including two playoff outings in 2016, before being waived by the team on January 3 of this year.
