Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations & General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today that the team has assigned forward Jalen McDaniels to the Greensboro Swarm, the team’s NBA G League Affiliate.

The Hornets selected McDaniels with the 52nd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The 6-10 forward made his NBA debut on Friday vs. Minnesota, totaling two points and one rebound in two minutes.

While at San Diego State, he earned All-Mountain West Second Team (2018-19) and All-Mountain West Third Team (2017-18) honors. McDaniels led the Aztecs in rebounding (8.3 rpg), steals (38) and placed second in scoring (15.9 ppg) during his sophomore campaign in 2018-19.

This marks the Hornets first assignment of the season to the Swarm, and McDaniels first career assignment to the G League. The Greensboro Swarm open the 2019-20 G League season on the road against the Erie BayHawks on Saturday, Nov. 9. The team returns from a two-game trip for its Home Opener against the Westchester Knicks on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 11 am at the Greensboro Fieldhouse.
