Swarm To Broadcast Four 2021 NBA G League Single-Site Games Locally On WMYV My48

By Greensboro Swarm Staff /February 18, 2021

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, today announced their local broadcast schedule for the 2021 NBA G League single-site. For the first time in organization history, four Swarm games will air in the Piedmont Triad region on WMYV My48, cable channel 15 or HD antenna 48-1.

"We are excited for the opportunity to partner with WMYV My48 for the NBA G League single-site," Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. "Our hope was to bring Swarm basketball into the homes of our fans in the Triad since we will not be playing on our home court at the Fieldhouse. This relationship is imperative for our organization, especially for this year, to continue to enhance the Swarm brand throughout the Triad."

Two of the four games on WMYV My48 will air live and two will be replayed within a few days of the event. Coverage begins with a tape-delay of the February 18 game between the Swarm and the Iowa Wolves (Minnesota Timberwolves affiliate) on Saturday, February 20, at 4:30 p.m. ET.

The first live telecast will feature the Swarm in a highly anticipated contest against the NBA G League Ignite, the recently launched team for NBA Draft-eligible players. That game will air on Sunday, February 21, at 3:00 p.m. ET.

"WXLV ABC 45 News and WMYV My48 are excited to partner with the Greensboro Swarm," WXLV and WMYV General Manager Allison Aldridge said. "Local sports are important to our viewers and we are looking forward to giving our viewers an option to watch these games in the Triad during these difficult times."

The next broadcast is scheduled for Saturday, February 27, when the tape-delay of the February 24 game between the Swarm and the Oklahoma City Blue (Oklahoma City Thunder affiliate) game airs at 3:00 p.m. ET. The fourth game on WMYV My48 will be live and see Greensboro take on the Erie BayHawks (New Orleans Pelicans affiliate) on Sunday, February 28, at 7:00 p.m. ET.

"We've heard from our fans on how much they will miss attending a Swarm game," Swetoha said. "We have worked with the league to implement elements during the game to give viewers the best experience they can get while watching at home. Including a pair of nationally televised games, we will have 40 percent of our games aired locally in the Triad. We have a young and talented team and we are happy that our fans get to watch them play in Orlando on WMYV My48."

All remaining games on the Swarm schedule can be watched via ESPN+, with the exception of the game on Friday, March 5, against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate), which will be aired on NBA TV and streamed on Twitch at 11:00 a.m. ET. The other nationally televised game was already aired when the Swarm opened play on ESPNU against the Westchester Knicks (New York Knicks affiliate).
