Swarm Players To Take 10 Deserving Kids From Local Boys & Girls Club Shopping

December 9, 2016 – The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA D-League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, in partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods, today announced the team will host a holiday shopping spree for ten Greensboro children at an area Dick’s store. The event, which will occur on Monday, Dec. 12, will allow ten deserving kids from a local Boys & Girls Club to go shopping with Swarm players and the team’s mascot, Sergeant Swarm.

“We are incredibly grateful to partner with Dick’s Sporting Goods on an endeavor that allows us both to give back to the community,” said Swarm President Steve Swetoha. “Our organization and players are very excited about the opportunity to make the holiday season a little brighter for ten deserving children.”

The afternoon will begin with the children making a visit to the Swarm’s own facility, the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, where they will get a special behind the scenes tour of the court and locker rooms. From there, Sergeant Swarm will take the kids to the Wendover Place Dick’s store location on the actual Swarm team bus. Upon arrival, the group will then be surprised by four members of the team with a shopping spree at the store. The players will then help the children with picking out their gifts.

The event is one of several the Swarm have put on as part of the annual NBA Cares Season of Giving. For more information on the Greensboro Swarm, Dick’s Sporting Goods, or NBA Cares, visit gsoswarm.com.
