2018-19 Theme Games And Promotions Announced

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League Affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, today announced its theme and promotion schedule for the 2018-19 season.

“We created our theme and promotions this season to really engage and excite our fans,” Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. “We plan to attract a variety of fans with diverse and creative theme nights. With some corporate sponsors on board, we are excited to make each game night memorable.”

Opening Night, presented by Blue Ridge Companies, will see the Swarm host the Grand Rapids Drive, NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, on Saturday, November 10, at 7 p.m. inside the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The Swarm have sold out Opening Night each of its two seasons in Greensboro.

Additional presenting partner theme nights include Aaron’s (Video Gamer Night, December 27); Chick-fil-A (Chick-fil-A Night, January 5); UNC Greensboro (UNCG Day at the Swarm, January 21); Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and NC811 (Art and Kids Night, February 9); and Allegacy Federal Credit Union (Fan Appreciation Night, March 23). Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina will proudly present Black History Month with social media posts and on-court recognitions throughout February.

With support from the Charlotte Hornets, the Swarm will host a Hornets Takeover Night (December 1) and Hornets 30th Anniversary Night (January 4).

New this season is the inaugural School Day Game (December 12), which is already sold out. Other highlighted themes include a Sports Career Fair (November 30), Faith and Family Night (December 7) and Basketball Legends Night (March 2).

The Swarm also return with a number of season-long promotions.

All Thursday night games are ‘1-2-3 Thursday’s’, meaning that Pepsi cans are $1, hot dogs are $2 and tickets are discounted $3. Natural Light Nights are Thursday and Friday, where cans are $2 through R.H. Barringer. Fans can also shoot free throws on the court postgame on Fridays. Full-team autographs will once again be after every Saturday home game.

Zaxby’s Family Pack’s will be unveiled throughout the season. These family-friendly packages include a ticket, food voucher for Zaxby’s and a promotional item for the selected games.

Greensboro is a member of the NBA G League’s Eastern Conference in the Southeast Division, joining the defending division champion Erie BayHawks (Atlanta Hawks), Lakeland Magic (Orlando Magic) and Go-Go. Former division rival Delaware Blue Coats (Philadelphia 76ers), formerly the 87ers, are now members of the Atlantic Division.
