By Greensboro Swarm Staff /August 6, 2018

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, announced today that the 2018 Open Tryout will be presented by BPR Properties, which represents Hilton and Marriott branded hotels. The tryout is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, at the UNC Greensboro Kaplan Center for Wellness.

“We are elated to partner with BPR Properties for one of our most anticipated events we host each year prior to the start of our season,” Greensboro Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. “This is the third straight year that our friends at UNC Greensboro have hosted the open tryouts and we look forward to evaluating talent on campus once again. We have had a number of players make our roster from the open tryouts and we are looking forward to hosting an exciting event with BPR Properties.”

BPR Properties, which has local offices in High Point, will offer a reduced rate of $99 to stay at one of its local hotels. The three locations offering the discounted rate include Courtyard by Marriott Greensboro Airport (7811 National Service Road), Residence Inn by Marriott Greensboro Airport (7616 Thorndike Road) and Home2 Suites by Hilton Greensboro Airport (7801 National Service Road).

“We are excited to host the Greensboro Swarm open tryout candidates,” BPR Properties Vice President of Sales and Marketing Kevin Dowdell said. “We are so fortunate to have an organization like the Swarm in our community and there is nothing more exciting than watching a Swarm game live. We look forward to hosting participants at our Courtyard, Residence Inn and Home2 Suites – three different lodging experiences to choose from. We wish everyone coming to Greensboro the best of luck pursing their dreams of playing professional basketball.”

Registration for the 2018 Open Tryout is now open. All information and documents, including the special rate from BPR Properties, is available on gsoswarm.com.

Players interested in trying out are required to submit the registration, release and authorization forms along with a $200 nonrefundable fee by Monday, September 10. Space permitting, walk-up registrations will be accepted the day of the tryout for a fee of $250.

NBA G League local tryouts offer players the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the Swarm coaching staff and Hornets basketball operations personnel. Prospects can earn an NBA G League contract and invitation to the Swarm’s training camp in November.
