Greensboro Swarm Teams Up With Toys For Tots And A Simple Gesture For Holiday Drive

By Greensboro Swarm Staff /November 28, 2017

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, will team up with local nonprofit organizations, Toys for Tots and A Simple Gesture, for three upcoming home games as a part of the Swarm Holiday Drive. The collection of unwrapped gifts and food, in conjunction with the NBA Cares Season of Giving, is one of several events the Swarm participate in to better serve its community.

To encourage donations, the Swarm will offer a complimentary ticket to fans who bring both an unwrapped toy and a nonperishable food item to one of three upcoming home games. Collection tables with representatives from Toys for Tots and A Simple Gesture will be in the main lobby of the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex for the games vs. Northern Arizona (Nov. 30), vs. Reno (Dec. 8) and vs. Raptors 905 (Dec. 15).

Toys for Tots is the collection and distribution of new, unwrapped toys in their local communities in which a Marine Corps Reserve Unit is located. With the objective to bring a little joy to less fortunate children throughout the United States. Last year the Greensboro Toys for Tots shared a message of hope to 12,000 less fortunate children in the community.

A Simple Gesture focuses on providing a sustainable supply of food to local food banks to prevent hunger in Guilford County. By picking up food door-to-door in convenient reusable bags, the organization makes it easy for families to contribute on an ongoing basis. All of the food collected during the Swarm Holiday Drive will be donated to Greensboro Urban Ministry, one of A Simple Gesture’s local partners.
