The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, will host HBCU Night presented by Greensboro Automotive Group on February 10 when the team takes on the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate) at the Novant Health Fieldhouse starting at 7 p.m.
The second annual HBCU Night will feature the team wearing special themed jerseys designed by Brianna Grant, an alumnus of Florida A&M University. Grant’s jersey was chosen for the night through the Swarm’s jersey design contest for HBCU students.
The jerseys being worn by the players will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds benefitting North Carolina A&T’s Department of Liberal Studies, specifically African-American Studies, through the Charlotte Hornets Foundation. In addition, the fans who purchase these jerseys will have the opportunity to get them autographed by the player and take a photo following the game.
“For the second consecutive year, we are excited to celebrate historically black colleges and universities on this special night. This is an important platform for our organization, especially with the rich tradition and the large number of accredited HBCUs in North Carolina, and we are proud to help recognize and promote these schools, students and alumni,” said Swarm President Steve Swetoha.
“Greensboro Automotive Group is a proud sponsor of the Greensboro Swarm. We are dedicated to being a positive influence on the Greensboro community and the affiliated charities with the event. With our loyal customers, we have given back to numerous causes and organizations and look forward to continuing to make a difference,” said Greensboro Automotive Group Regional Human Resource Business Partner Margo McDougald.
This night will feature various in-game activations highlighting local HBCU student groups such as Divine 9 organizations and North Carolina A&T’s pep band. In addition, current and former HBCU students have the opportunity to take advantage of the special $5 HBCU ticket below.
