Swarm, Academy Sports + Outdoors Host Annual Holiday Shopping Spree

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, today announced that the Swarm will join Academy Sports + Outdoors for the fifth annual Holiday Shopping Spree to benefit local nonprofits Salvation Army – Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA of Greensboro on Monday, December 4, 2023.

“This is the fifth consecutive season that we have partnered with Academy Sports + Outdoors in hosting such an impactful event for the YMCA of Greensboro and the Boys and Girls Club,” Swarm President Steve Swetoha said.  “The holidays can indeed be a challenging time for some families and hopefully we can continue to support our community in making the holiday season brighter for so many kids and families this time of the season. This event is something our organization looks forward to every year in trying to make a difference.”

The Greensboro Swarm’s players and coaches will be assisting the children as they shop for the holidays. Through the collaboration of the Boys and Girls Club and the Greensboro YMCA, a total of 33 children will benefit from the shopping spree. The Holiday Shopping Spree, in conjunction with the NBA’s Season of Giving, is one of the many ways the Swarm plans to give back to the Greensboro community.
