The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, announced today that the team will again join Academy Sports + Outdoors to support two local nonprofits for the annual Holiday Shopping Spree. Beneficiaries include Salvation Army- Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA of Greensboro.
“We are very thankful to work with Academy Sports + Outdoors for the fourth season in a row for such an impactful event,” Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. “The holidays can be difficult for some families in our community, and we engage in these opportunities in working with community driven organizations to bring seasonal cheer. Our ability to support these two nonprofits and so many kids and families especially at this time of the season is very important to our organization.”
With the ease of health and safety restrictions, Greensboro Swarm players and coaches will once again be able to assist the children with their holiday shopping in-person for the first time since 2019. Between the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club and YMCA of Greensboro, 34 children will benefit from this year’s Holiday Shopping Spree.
The Holiday Shopping Spree, in conjunction with the NBA's Season of Giving, is one of the few ways the Swarm plans to give back to the Greensboro community.
