EDINBURG, Texas – The Greensboro Swarm fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 131–119, on Saturday night at Bert Ogden Arena, dropping to 6–3 on the season.
Rio Grande Valley controlled the game from the opening tip, building a 45–21 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin to as many as 30 points. The Vipers led 78–51 at halftime and maintained control throughout the night.
Greensboro shot 49.4% from the field and scored 70 points in the paint, but was unable to overcome the early deficit. The Swarm committed 18 turnovers, which led to 17 points for Rio Grande Valley.
Liam McNeeley led the Swarm with 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Keyontae Johnson finished with 19 points, while Eric Dixon added 19 points off the bench. Jaylen Sims contributed 17 points, and KJ Simpson recorded 12 points and eight assists.
The Vipers were led by Daishen Nix, who recorded a game-high 35 points and 12 assists. Efe Abogidi added 23 points, while Tyler Smith finished with 20 points. Rio Grande Valley shot 43.9 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from three-point range.
Greensboro returns to action on Thursday as it faces the Westchester Knicks before returning to Novant Health Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. ET against the Osceola Magic. The Swarm will host Hornets Takeover Night, featuring a Hornets-inspired jersey, with game-worn jerseys available for auction.
