The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, to hold Community Heroes’ Night on February 25 at the Novant Health Fieldhouse starting at 7 p.m. ET against the Maine Celtics (Boston Celtics Affiliate).
"This is the third consecutive year that we are celebrating Community Heroes Night, presented by Truliant Federal Credit Union, to recognize selfless individuals who continue to keep our communities safe," Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. "This particular partnership with Truliant is another example that gives us the platform to honor some of the many leaders who serve our community on a daily basis. Our goal with Truliant is not only to create a memorable experience at our game but to highlight these heroes for their dedication, passion and tireless efforts."
On Tuesday, January 24, staff members from both the Swarm and Truliant, as well as Swarmy, visited the police and fire departments to hand-deliver tickets for first responders to attend the game. Both groups will be represented at the game and be involved in various in-game activities during Community Heroes’ Night.
“At Truliant, we’re grateful beyond measure for the exemplary service our first responders provide in our communities each day,” said Atticus Simpson, Senior Director of Community Affairs at Truliant. “We want to make sure they have an opportunity to be recognized and feel valued as they relax, unwind and enjoy some hoops with the Swarm.” The in-game activities will include recognition and honors to highlight community heroes in attendance. The Swarm will continue their tradition at halftime with a special basketball competition between the police and fire departments to determine who will take home the Truliant Community Heroes’ Cup.
