YMCA of Greensboro To Present Swarm Training Camp

By Greensboro Swarm Staff /October 26, 2021

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, announced today that the 2021-22 Training Camp will be presented by the YMCA of Greensboro. Training Camp begins on Tuesday, October 26, under first-year head coach Jordan Surenkamp.

"Our unique partnership with the YMCA of Greensboro started with our first season," Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. "We are always finding opportunities to align and grow our brands together and building a sense of community. This opportunity is just another example on how we continue to work together and feature their brand on our digital platforms during Training Camp."

Returning and highlighting the digital content is the 'Kid Reporter' program which will feature YMCA of Greensboro kids asking questions that will be answered by a Swarm player. Additionally, content posted on the Swarm digital platforms will prominently include the YMCA throughout Training Camp.

"We are excited to partner with the Swarm, particularly this season as the NBA celebrates 75 years of playing and promoting the game founded by Dr. James Naismith at the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts," said Rhonda Anderson, YMCA of Greensboro CEO and President. "Many of our Y members, particularly youth members, are fans of the game of basketball; and the Y provides the opportunity for people of all skill levels to enjoy the game by participating in leagues, clinics and camps. We offer scholarships for those unable to afford our programs; and our partnership with the Swarm for Training Camp broadens our ability to engage youth in living healthier lifestyles."

The Swarm and YMCA of Greensboro relationship will extend into the 2021-22 NBA G League season. Those specific activations will be shared at a future date.

"We are working on a number of elements that will reflect our relationship with the YMCA on and off the court," Swetoha said. "This includes showcasing the YMCA brand inside the Fieldhouse, teaming up for opportunities in the community and a special theme jersey night. Our long-term partnership is focused on local youth and we are excited to collaborate to impact as many kids as we can."

Greensboro opens the season on Friday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m. ET against the Birmingham Squadron (New Orleans Pelicans affiliate) at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The 2021-22 season is a celebration of the team's 5th Anniversary, presented by Blue Ridge Companies. The Swarm will play 26 games at home with 17 of those dates falling on a Friday or Saturday.

Fans can purchase tickets through a variety of options including Season Ticket Memberships, Mini Plans and Group Packages. Single-game tickets are on sale as well.
